CHOMARAT PRESENTS A NEW COMPOSITE REINFORCEMENT AT THE 2012 JEC EUROPE 24/02/12

Chomarat will give the 2012 JEC Europe a preview of the latest technical advances and the first parts obtained with C-PLY™ Bi-Angle, which makes use of innovative fibre orientations within the composite. By eliminating the fibres placed perpendicular to the main loading axis and/or using extremely thin plies (75G/M2), it is possible to develop completely new multiaxial materials. C-PLY™ Bi-Angle is a carbon reinforcement that makes it possible to manufacture even lighter and stronger composites more rapidly and cost effectively.

CHOMARAT begins Industry shift with Next C-PLY™ Bi-Angle Reinforcement 01/12/11

CHOMARAT presented the last results obtained with C-PLY™ 0/25, an unbalanced carbon bi-angle NCF during JEC Asia (18 – 20 October 2011, Singapore). This particular NCF can have plies using a tow spreading process resulting in a thickness as low as 75 gsm per ply or 150 gsm per bi-angle layer.

  • Injection of a part in RTM Light with Cray Valley low shrink resins (UPEX 091455)
  • Infusion of a part with Chomarat ROVIFLOW™ NET1
  • Moulding of a silicon membrane from Wacker
  • Infusion by FLEX MOLDING process from MVP

These workshops highlighted benefits of each process in terms of :

  • Productivity, and economical savings
  • Industrialisation ease.
  • Improvement of surface aspects.
  • Anticipation of new environmental pressures.

At the end of the day, attendees have had the opportunity to discuss together about the development of closed mould processes and their environment
